Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the Bladder
Transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder is exemplified by hyperplasia of the bladder mucosa; a thickening of the bladder mucosa greater than 8 cell layers thick.

Hematuria is the most common symptom of transitional cell carcinoma, followed by symptoms related to associated urinary tract infection.  Dysuria is most often seen with high-grade tumors,as a result of bladder wall involvement.

Exposure to aniline dyes, especially benzidine and beta-naphthylamine, are known risk factors.
